Season’s Greetings
I wish each of you a wonderful holiday season, one filled with a flurry of friends, family and festivities. And as the year draws to an end and your thoughts turn to resolutions for 2008, I hope you will make NCB a part of them. Whether it’s taking time to nominate a certificant you feel embodies NCBTMB’s commitment to excellence, volunteering your talents and serving on a committee, or taking CE classes and becoming recertified, we’d like to help you realize your personal and professional goals in the coming year.
At NCBTMB our resolution is to continue improving our service to you, through new streamlined application forms, additional staff devoted to customer service and school outreach, innovative tools and resources to build your practice, and much more. It’s part of our pledge to make NCBTMB – and 2008 – the best ever.
Happy holidays from all of us at NCBTMB! |

In Your Own Words
A Mentor’s Message About National Certification
Nationally certified for 13 years, Felicia Brown had her first experience with massage at an early age. Her fifth-grade teacher, Marcia Kass, was a massage therapist. In seventh grade, she took an elective class with Kass on massage of the feet, hands and face and says, “It was fantastic!”
Building on that early foundation, her wide-spanning career has involved everything from building a private practice into a $1.6 million day spa, to her current work of serving as a spa consultant, coach and educator. And she recently received her Approved Provider’s certificate, supporting her work in continuing education.
“I am grateful for the options and opportunities that NCB certification has provided me. Much like massage, training and consulting allow me to help make people happy. I love that I get to help massage therapists solve problems, make more money and achieve success.”
Felicia Brown, LMBT, owns Spalutions! a full-service firm that offers business consulting, coaching, group instruction and more. You can read about her work at www.spalutions.com. |

Survey Says
Thanks to all of those who participated in TouchPoint’s survey.
The questions were directed at massage therapists and bodyworkers practicing for at least five years and addressed the changes they have observed in the last couple years. The goal of the survey was to aid NCBTMB and Approved Providers in forecasting – and responding to – the continuing education needs of certificants. Click here to view the results. |
